Welcome, and thank you for visiting. In this short video you will see a series of small, square, paintings of animals and birds that I have created on Ampersand Claybord panels with Holbein Acrylics. I have written a little story to go with each character. I hope they will bring a smile to your face. According to medieval lore, cats got their name because catus, in Greek, means cunning (footnote). What the stories were referring to, of course, is the house cat’s amazing hunting ability. Fittingly, another ancient word for cat, musio, means “mouser.”

A magnificent field of poppies on the way to Saint Hilaire in the south of France lead to a discussion about breaking the landscape into shapes and creating gentle textural effects.
