Use Negative Painting Techniques to Create a Watercolour Painting of Cala lilies and Hydrangea Flowers

Watch as flowers, leaves and berries appear by using negative painting techniques. The full demonstration and instructions can be found in my book "Simplifying Design and Color for Artists".

Here is a tip for you: If you are working with watercolour and want soft edges, work on wet or damp paper. For crisp, defined shapes work on dry paper.

The inspiration for this painting was a bride's beautiful bouquet!
