Cats, Drugs and Gambling

A tabby, tired of hearth and stool,
Conceived a plan to become real cool.
It found some catnip, sharp and sweet,
And tumbled headlong in defeat.

Its mind went foggy, tail went slack,
The world began to tilt and crack.
A whisper coiled along the street:
“Come try your luck where dice compete.”

It lurched into a shadowed den,
Of alley cats and gambling men.
The dice went clatter, hiss, and spin—
A reckless paw pushed all chips in.
_________
I'd leave it here, but if you desire a happy ending, you can add this-

Yet in the haze, a lesson came:
That coolness isn’t just a game.
With steady paws and wiser heart,
The tabby chose a different start.

It left the dice, the smoky den,
And found its way back home again.
No longer chasing fleeting highs,
It basked beneath the honest skies.

Now on warm hearths beneath the moon,
It purrs a contented, gentle tune.
Nine lives enriched by lessons learned—
A tabby’s grace, well taught, well earned.
