A haughty yellow bird, on a branch so high,
Preened his bright feathers and peered at the sky.
Then came the yellow jackets, buzzing with glee,
A dizzying dance ‘round his beak and his knee.

He flapped and he twirled in a flustered display,
While the wasps only giggled, then went on their way.

By twilight he perched, slightly flustered but bright—
The day’s little mischief had turned out alright.
