Abstract Nature Harmony:
Exploring Acrylic and Mylar Magic Workshop Description: Discover the magic of acrylics and coloured pencils on a frosted mylar surface in this exciting new program! Dive into a world of bold colour exploration where large blocks of vibrant hues collide, flow, and transform. Through hands-on experimentation, you'll master the art of layering transparent and opaque colours, create beautiful textures and painterly marks, and add decorative elements to create captivating abstract paintings.Designed for artists of all levels, this course invites you to experiment with evocative colour combinations and techniques that push the boundaries of traditional painting. All you need are a few affordable supplies and your favourite acrylics to begin this creative journey.
Over two immersive days, you'll experience engaging, guided sessions with access to additional resources for self-paced exploration afterward. Whether you're drawn to the beauty of nature or the intrigue of abstract art, this course offers a fresh and inspiring perspective on both!
Warm-up lessons! We will do more exercises in class but if you want a head-start try these projects
Test for transparent or opaque
We will work on mylar. There are other synthetic papers that may give satisfactory results but I recommend:
Mylar
Stabilo ALL Pencils
You will also need a piece or two of cardboard that are larger than the mylar you will work on, a pair of scissors. There are handouts to be printed or you may make sketch similar designs.
*If you would like to try a the final project with collage elements you will need some gel medium (any type)
Our ProjectsFor the main projects we create the foundations first. I will work on 9 x 12" mylar for all of my demonstrations. We will begin right away making a few experimental underpaintings which will be set aside to dry before we can turn them into works of art. In the meantime, we will do some exercises and learn more about the creative possibilities of working with mylar and acrylics. |
